Customer Success Q&A with Olivier Monami

Have you ever wondered what customer success at HubSpot means? meet Olivier, A channel consultant and team leader in the customer success team at HubSpot Dublin. Joining HubSpot in 2017 as a client entry specialist, Olivier moved to the position of Channel Advisor in 2020. Olivier, originally from France, moved to Ireland to pursue a career in the technology industry in Dublin.

In these questions and answers, Olivier dives into life as a channel consultant at HubSpot and how he uses HubSpot’s 90-day mobility policy. Here’s what he had to say…

Can you tell us a little about your background and journey to HubSpot?

My name is Olivier; I am from France and have lived in Dublin since 2014. In 2017 I joined HubSpot as a customer entry specialist, helping more than 700 businesses start with HubSpot. I decided to bring my experience in implementation and expertise in solutions to the HubSpot Solutions affiliate program. This program enables agencies and service providers to sell and deliver HubSpot solutions to their customers and provides them with a model to help them grow their business. I applied internally and became a channel consultant in 2020, and now I provide our partners with a campaign strategy, service packaging and pricing, customer engagement and customer value delivery.

Describe a typical week in your job?

The role of the channel consultant is not like any other role of a client success in HubSpot. No two weeks look the same, from meeting with partners to guide them in their business strategy to collaborating with internal sales, marketing and product teams. Every day is different, because I find solutions for my affiliates by searching for the right information as well as working on projects that can help the global affiliate program.

What skills are needed to succeed in your job?

As I mentioned, the role of a channel consultant is truly unique in that you support HubSpot partners in their business strategy and help them grow. To be successful in this role, you need a business acumen and an entrepreneurial spirit. In addition, because you collaborate with stakeholders both internally in HubSpot and externally through the affiliate program, strong communication and collaboration skills are also essential.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Seeing a New Affiliate Join the Affiliate Program and Become a Rated Affiliate. Currently, our partners are divided into four types: elite, diamond, platinum and gold. They are awarded based on HubSpot resale and the ability to successfully provide customer service. It’s amazing to be a part of their success.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Because no one day looks like another, it’s important to stay on top of things all the time while interacting with multiple partners and HubSpot teams. This means monitoring the current state of internal and external communication, projects and more. While this is the most challenging part of my job, it is also an easy skill to learn in a short time in that job.

Which job option did you choose and why?

HubSpot offers employees the option to be an @home, @office or @flex employee. I chose the @flex option because it allows me to balance work from home with walking to the office to experience the amazing HubSpot office and connect with my team in person.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a career in customer success at HubSpot?

The advice I would give to someone who wants to pursue a career in customer success at HubSpot, or any role in front of a customer, would be empathetic. Always put yourself in your client’s or partner’s shoes, and in time it will become second nature.

In your opinion, why now is a good time to join HubSpot?

HubSpot is a fantastic company in rapid growth with some of the best solutions on the market. HubSpot has an amazing growth program and a strong desire to always innovate, making it a good time to join. There is a lot of room for growth and personal development as our teams grow.

Have you already used the 90-day Temporary Mobility Policy, and how?

In 2020, HubSpot introduced a temporary mobility policy that allows employees to work from another country for up to 90 days a year. The temporary mobility policy has allowed me to work from France recently. I love that I can spend a lot of time in my native France and still have the amazing opportunity to live in an exciting city like Dublin. This 90-day policy allowed me to be closer to my family – something that was much needed after two years of travel restrictions during the plague.
