How RSM Is Showing Their Appreciation of Employees | Job and Internship Advice, Companies to Work for and More

National Employee Recognition Day provides companies with an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to employees. At RSM, appreciation, recognition and feedback are embedded in our culture – making these activities a part of every day of the year. We are grateful to each of our nearly 12,000 unique and caring professionals, who help our clients in the middle market succeed, support their colleagues personally and professionally and work together to give back to our communities.

We asked our professionals to share why it is important to demonstrate appreciation every day of the year:

“A little act of appreciation can encourage, inspire and let people know how much they are valued. People remember how you made them feel. Our people deserve gratitude when they did something special.” – Tracy Walker, Senior National Director for Government and Culture, Diversity and Inclusion

“There are a lot of projects I’m working on that involve people on different teams, and together we collaborate and lean on each other. These are the examples of demonstrating being a team player and trying harder to help, which make appreciating my teammates very important to me.” Irena Lobis, Project Manager

“Part of being a great teammate and leader, regardless of level, is showing your appreciation to your team, and letting them know they are important and the work they do is critical to the results achieved.” – Brad Devilvis, Senior Director of Strategy and Innovation

“It’s important to let my teammates know that I care, that I saw what they did and that I appreciate them. As a society, too often we spend more time on the negative, on what went wrong compared to what went wrong. When someone does above and beyond, it’s important to take time to say, ‘Congratulations. Thank you, I appreciate you ‘”- Michael Johnson, tax partner

“Taking the time to identify how influential your co-worker is and show him that you understand and appreciate their efforts will make them feel good about what they do. Feeling good about the work we do will not only increase productivity and improve interaction with our customers, but employees will also take the Feeling at home. “- Stefan Lenziner, Consulting Manager

“My best advice for giving appreciation to team members is to do it on time! Appreciation / feedback on time affects the person receiving it much more than letting him sit until you reach him. I like to end each work day thinking about who or what I was grateful for during the day. (So it’s fresh in my head), and to express that gratitude. ” –Brian Cohen, senior general at HR

“It’s important for your team to know that you care about them as people, of the effort they put in and most importantly that it’s not always easy. The benefits of appreciating are not necessarily measurable, but you can bring a smile to your teammate’s day.” Christina Churchill, Consulting Manager

“You can show your team members appreciation by giving them your most precious commodity, your time. You can take the time to answer their questions, provide feedback and cultivate a relationship.” – Kelly McArville, Market Development Manager
