3. Be willing to share why you are interested in working remotely
If a job offers a job remotely, many employers will assume you know this and find it attractive.
Remote teams get more candidates for each position they advertise because so many people want that freedom and flexibility, so you should always expect one or two interview questions about what you think of working remotely.
You can mention a work-life balance, the fact that you are more productive in a home office, or any other reason you want to work remotely.

In any interview, job seekers should be familiar with their work and recent accomplishments.
You do not want to be insecure or hesitate too much when answering questions like:

This may sound obvious but if it’s been a while since you wrote your resume, you may have forgotten some areas.
Beyond that, think about how your past work proves that you are the right candidates for this company and position.
When interviewing, always strive to show how your experience will be relevant and helpful in the job you want next.

You can ask about:
- Preliminary goals in the job and what success will look like in the first 90 days
- How your performance will be measured
- What kind of remote guidance and integration are provided
- Team and company goals for the coming year
- What tips can they offer to a new employee joining the organization
- What tools the remote team uses to communicate and track work
- What they feel sets their company apart from the competition, and what they do better
There is so much you can ask about so much great information that you can gather by asking job interview questions.
This is why the interviewer will worry if you can not think of one question to ask him.
As a final tip / warning: Be careful not to ask questions that can be answered by browsing the company’s website quickly. For example, do not ask, “What is your mission statement?”

8. Design your interview outfit
Plan to dress appropriately and set aside your interview costume ahead of time so that you will have one less thing to worry about on the morning of the interview.

Even if you are not going to interact face to face with people in an office environment, you will still make a better impression on employers if you dress well for the interview.

Choose clothing that looks professional but not too “noisy” or colorful. Make sure your clothes are also wrinkle-free.
9. Check your interview time again
As one of the last steps to prepare for any virtual interview, check your email or other communication with the company and just confirm the time and time zone.
Do not miss your interview because of mixing time zones etc. Be especially careful if your interviewer is in another area of the country, and if you have a doubt, just ask.
Google Calendar, Zoom and other major remote communication platforms usually do a great job of scheduling appointments for your local time zone, but it’s still wise to check twice before your video interview day.
10. Prepare for the unexpected
Finally, you have a general idea of what to do if the remote job interview platform does not connect or if there is unexpected noise or other interruptions during your video interview.
While Zoom is unlikely to go down, some smaller platforms may be less reliable.
Make a backup plan in case you can’t get into the video call.
Do you have a phone number you can use to call an interviewer? Do you have an up-to-date email from the interviewer that you can respond to and let him know that you are having problems?
These are points that job applicants should not think about in a regular interview or in a personal interview, but some are areas that remote employees or anyone who comes to virtual interviews should be prepared for.
