Job searching can be emotionally, physically and mentally overwhelming. Interviewer And waiting for a response is incredibly stressful. But getting to this point is equally burdensome. Not only do you have to shuffle through thousands of listings to find the roles that match your criteria, you also have to beware of scams and vague employers who advertise on job boards. Many job lists contain suspicious language and phrases that should give the job seeker a break. If you see one of the phrases below, think twice before submitting your resume.
Unlimited earning potential
When registration guarantees unlimited earning potential, it is usually a sales job or a multi-level marketing recruitment tactic. While there is nothing inherently bad about sales, many jobs are mostly or entirely based on commissions. Therefore, if you can not make sales, you will not make money. And because some industries may be saturated with salespeople, it can be very difficult for new entrants to compete. Sales can be very lucrative, but for every salesperson who earns six digits there are many more who have left because of a lack of opportunities. The average turnover for sales (35%) is Higher than average in all other industries (13%).
Your affairs
Owning your own business may be a dream, but it’s not a good sign if a potential “employer” puts him on his job list. This is almost always a pyramid pile or a multi-level marketing company. Problems with MLMs have been discussed in the past, the main one being that most distributors do not make money. in fact, A large percentage actually lose money.
Work from home
There are many legitimate jobs for working from home. However, there are still a lot of work scams from home that you should be aware of. If someone wants you to pay money in advance for materials, it’s a scam. You do not have to pay a potential employer to get a job. A real work-from-home position will be clear about responsibilities, desirable skills and you will want to meet with them virtually or in person to discuss the nature of the job.
Not a pyramid scheme
If a listing must say it’s not a pyramid pile, it’s probably an MLM or a direct scam. This is one situation where you do not even have to pay attention to job registration.
Wear several hats
Many jobs require employees to fill various roles, especially in small businesses. This phrase alone should not scare you from applying, but you should seek clarity about what the potential employer expects. Although you may be willing to take on many responsibilities, you do not want to be blind with duties that do not match your skills or personality. In addition, you need to ask specific questions during the interview process to ensure you have the time and resources to get your job done efficiently. If you are drawn in too many directions, you may be overwhelmed and experience burnout.
Work hard, play hard
Working with this phrase usually only expects employees to work to the point of fatigue. They may introduce some “fun” features into the office, but the goal is to prevent employees from leaving. Start-ups often use this phrase because they can not afford a lot of employees and therefore they need some employees who work very hard. Although larger companies, especially in the technology industry, expect employees to actually live at work. However, there are people who thrive in this environment and do not mind working in such a position to build their skills and make valuable connections.
Must be flexible / willing to work in any shift
In industries like health care, workers understand that working odd hours and being on standby is a normal part of the job. But if an employer wants you to be available all the time, it’s a sign that it’s unmanned and / or poorly timed. Although you may be willing to work on changing schedules or additional shifts, many employers will take advantage of this and never give you a break.
